Amazon customer B. Maddox
“I started this weighing 160lbs and flabby! After about a month, I’ve lost 10lbs and gained a lot of muscle. I lost an inch off my waist and 3 inches off my hips! I did this exercise along with my own diet (just being aware of what I was eating and watching my portions – easy stuff!) and now I have actually have abs - lol.”

Actually, Jillian is supposed to be a real sweetie, according to author Shauna Reid, who blogged about meeting her at The Amazing Adventures Of Diet Girl.
Shauna’s book, The Amazing Adventures Of Dietgirl has received some glowing reviews:
“A buoyant, funny, and immensely likable romp – for readers of all sizes.” (4 stars)
People
“Bookstores are fat with diet tales, but Reid’s stands out. She’s an entertaining, endearing writer – funny, humble, honest, wise and best of all, compassionate.”
Minneapolis Star Tribune
“Shauna’s story starts at the age of 23, with her weighing 351 lbs, The Amazing Adventures Of Dietgirl is much more than a dieting memoir, it’s a travelogue over 8,000 miles, a romance and a survivor story.
“This is a read-cover-to-cover-in-one-sitting book. While it is nominally about weight-loss, it’s really a story about getting your priorities right and how to live life well.”
Amazon reader Peta Mayer
“She isn’t defined by her weight, she’s defined by her courage and her kind spirit. I think this book could be an inspiration for anyone who seeks to step outside their comfort zone and accomplish something amazing.”
Amazon reader Priscilla J.
“Even if you don’t have to lose half your weight, you’ll enjoy Shauna Reid’s tales of traveling around the world, meeting the man of her dreams, and learning to live life out loud. Plus, she does it all before she hits her goal weight, showing that you don’t have to wait to be thin to live the life you want to. If all that still doesn’t convince you, buy it for the cool animated flip book printed in the bottom corner of each page!”

FYI:
- England’s The Daily Mail reported in August 2009, on the latest weapon being developed in The War Against Obesity when all else has failed. Deep Brain Stimulation, the planting of electrodes deep in the brain – a procedure sometimes used to treat Parkinson’s Disease – targets the hypothalamus, providing short electric bursts that make patients feel like your stomach is full. Over time, people are losing weight but Deep Brain Stimulation is not without its critics.
- And again in August 2009, England’s The Daily Mail reported on the Guinness Book Of World Records for yo-yo dieting, American, Michael Hebranko, who lost and gained 65 stone (that’s almost 900 lbs or 400 kilos!) who’s now back to a trim 40 stone.
- In September 2009, The Daily Mail reported on three women (with great before and after pictures) who had undergone cosmetic surgery to get rid of their muffin tops, the rolls of fat that hang over the waistband – the “love handles that…no amount of exercise could shift”.
- And again in September 2009, the Daily Mail reported that Obesity may, within the next decade, become the biggest trigger for cancer – even more than smoking.
- In October 2009, The Daily Mail reported on getting rid of man boobs via laser surgery. Man boobs are medically known as Gynaecomastia and the surgery technique experienced a 44% increase in demand last year with the same increase expected for this year.
- In October 2009, The Daily Mail reported that tests on mice indicate that high protein diets may shrink the brain and increase the risk of Alzheimer’s Disease in later life.
